The D&I initiative is a multi-year plan, and the work accomplished through the plan will be ongoing. Ambassadors and Liaisons will eventually get to know individual members of their assigned groups and have open discussions and receive honest feedback. It may take several meetings for groups to become comfortable with their Ambassador or Liaison.
A series of meetings and coaching may occur in preparation for Outreach, as well as several follow-up meetings. Throughout the year, Ambassadors and Liaisons will meet with their assigned groups on a consistent basis. The initial commitment for an Ambassador/Liaison is a two-year term. Ambassadors and Liaisons who wish to continue after the designated term will be offered an opportunity to do so through one-year term extensions. All term extensions are approved by the Ambassador & and Liaison Subcommittee.
The Ambassador & Liaison Program is a crucial component of the D&I plan and provides an opportunity to participate in a major organization-wide initiative. Ambassadors and Liaisons have the opportunity to develop professionally, as well as meet other staff members and develop meaningful connections with people who are outside of one’s work environment. Managers are asked to permit staff who volunteer as Ambassadors and Liaisons the necessary time away from their day-to-day responsibilities to perform this very important work.
